LCFS Credit Volume Rushes to 10-Week High at Quarter Close

 

Third Quarter LCFS Credit Volume Down 14% Compared to Q3 2020

LCFS credit volume reached a 10-week high in the final week of Q3. Weekly volume of 620,146 was 57 percent over the prior week and 46 percent over the 2021 weekly average of 425,022.  Third quarter volume closed 37 percent below second quarter volume and 14 percent below Q3 of 2020. There were 51 transactions during the week, up from 23 the week before. The weighted average price paid per credit increased $1.83 to $180.02. Of the 51 transactions posted, Type 1 transfers totaled 290,704 credits and Type 2 transfers accounted for 329,442 credits. Type 1 transfers accounted for 53 percent of the transactions and 47 percent of the volume.

Type 1 transactions are executed within 10 days of an agreement. Type 2 transactions are executed beyond 10 days of a transfer agreement. Type 1 transactions may provide a more accurate indication of market conditions and price direction since Type 2…
