No Regulatory Pathway for Cannabinoids on Horizon

There will be no relief in the near term for large cannabinoid companies in the form of FDA regulations.  Most Hemp Bulletin readers are aware of the regulatory stalemate that has prevented cannabinoid markets – led by CBD – from achieving liftoff.  Small and large companies alike freely market CBD products now and go unmolested by FDA, unless they make unproven product claims. 

FDA’s enforcement action has focused on those that make unsubstantiated product health claims. They do a thorough job of scouring social media and website content of the offending companies to justify enforcement, some of which has included fines levied in the tens of thousands of dollars.  There is no indication of any systematic approach to enforcement, but they’re likely plucking the low hanging fruit that is blatant or recurring…
