Organic Cracked Corn Imports Rise for the Current Marketing Year

Organic cracked corn imports continue to arrive in the United States in January 2022. According to Bills of Lading analyzed by Fastmarkets/The Jacobsen, these imports were down 65% month over month but up 100% year over year (since no organic cracked corn was imported into the United States in January 2021). Organic cracked corn imports are up 16% year over year for the current marketing period. As we mentioned in our bulletin on Monday, organic cracked corn imports arrived in Morehead City, North Carolina, on the vessel “Sara,” which first stopped in Baton Rouge, LA, to drop off organic soybean meal. It appears that both the organic cracked corn and the organic soybean meal were sourced from Giresun Turkey. As a frame of reference, approximately 52K metric tons of organic cracked corn was delivered into the United States in Q1 2021. The January 2022 figure was about 7K metric tons imported into the U.S.
