Good Volume Wet Blue Hides Sold During Week 19

Hide trading was active for steers and heifers whereas several cowhide selections are still under negotiation.

Buyers that are active in the market are willing to pay close to steady to steady to current price levels. Items traded today were not far off from yesterday’s levels. There are rumors from Chinese tanners of sales at discount for steerhides from big packers, but this was not confirmed by US packers.

The high-end market remains trading well, but does not absorb much production to sway the market to higher levels. Lower end material is still facing downward price pressure. Tanners in the low-end market continue to struggle with profit margins.
