Heavy Native Steers Steady, But Under Price Pressure

Sellers put together offer lists today with asking levels close to steady with the last traded levels on most selections. Some sellers are in position to offer at higher than last traded prices on cow selections after moving large volumes of material last week at steady to current market price levels.

Suppliers have steer hides that they are looking to move this week and the negeative price pressure on heavy native steers (HNS) continues. With automotive tanners relatively out of the market, interest for HNS has dwindled. Some buyers were willing to pay steady price levels today for premium material but there are talks of price decreases in the near-term.
