Hide Sales for Week 21 Fall Short of Estimated Cattle Slaughter

Hide Sales for Week 21 Fall Short of Estimated Cattle Slaughter

Hide trading was limited today as some negotiations go into the weekend due to the shorter US holiday week. Steer hides traded at steady price levels to the week prior, for most case. Cowhides traded steady but sellers with negotiations heading into the weekend are attempting to receive slightly higher levels.

Cowhides and low-quality hides were in the most demand this week.

The Senate approved the bill to raise the debt ceiling to help avoid a default on US debt. The hide market sellers remarked that this offer a bit of relief, but the struggling economies of China and Europe continue to weigh on demand for leather goods.
