Automotive & Furniture Tanners Active in US Hide Market

Automotive & Furniture Tanners Active in US Hide Market

The US hide market wrapped the week trading steady or $0.50 higher than last week on steer hides and sideways for cow hides. Demand was firm from upholstery tanners in Hebei province of China as well as automotive tanners in Mexico. Footwear tanners were more hesitant to make new purchases this week, but some of the large players in China were active.
Heavy Texas steer and butt branded steers traded $0.50 up from last sold.
Packers reported well sold positions on most steers, so they do to except to have much to offer next week. Buyers looking for material next week are likely to be met with higher offer prices than this week.
