Light-Weight Heavy Native Steers Trade Higher

Light-Weight Heavy Native Steers Trade Higher

Hide demand slowed over the course of the week for buyers in footwear, upholstery, and handbag tanning. Automotive tanners remain active in the market looking to buy for incoming leather orders.
The volumes needed are strong for September shipment which drove prices for heavy native steers up $2 for light-weight packer material. Sellers have stated they carry limited supply of heavy native steers and demand is firm from several customers.
Buyers focused in other areas of the market were unwilling to pay higher price levels than current market due to slow leather demand, high exchange rates and depressed leather prices.
