Winter Weight Change Goes into Effect Today

Every year on October 1, the Price Guide is modified to reflect heavier winter weights. Monday, selections without trades reported will go to “0.” It will take at least a week to build up a weekly comparison price.

Winter and summer weights for selections can be found at the bottom of this page under “The Jacobsen Rules for Reporting Hide Trades.”

The Price Guide will once again be modified on April 1, 2024, when we switch back to summer weights.

The tone of the US hide market was quiet today following the weekend. Several sellers reported on Friday that ongoing negotiations with buyers would continue into the weekend. Some sellers today stated the negotiations were still ongoing because buyers were firm on paying lower than current market pricing.
