Limited Trading This Week Due to Chinese Holiday

The week wrapped up with most trading at steady to last week’s levels or $1 down depending on the selection. Steer hides were under the most negative price pressure due to limited demand for Branded Steer, heavy Texas Steers, and Colorado Branded Steers. The majority of this material is used in footwear leather which tanners in this sector continue to report minimal new leather orders.
Some sellers reported slowing hide demand for heavy native steers and a seller reported traded material down $1 from last sold levels. However, not all sellers are seeing this slower demand, having indicated bids at steady to current market levels.
Sellers have more unsettled business, which is expected to carry into the weekend and next week as more buyers in China return from the Golden Week holiday.
