Hide trading today was active with some buyers willing to pay steady to lower prices. Colorado Branded Steers, Butt Branded Steers and Native Heifers were all sold at price levels $1- $1.50 lower than last traded for regular weight material.
Automotive tanners remain active in the market but for small volume deals. Tanners remain wary of the near-term market due to the ongoing strike at several auto plants.
Upholstery and shoe tanners traded hides this week but are pushing for lower prices due to slow leather orders. Some of the larger buyers are willing to pay steady to current market prices after some negotiation with packers.
