International Animal Proteins 26.10.2023

The international protein market was steady on most items, though meat and bonemeal was mixed on reports of variations in demand. Prices were slightly lower into Indonesia with a range of US$605-625/mt and softer into China at US$610-630/mt. Both regions showed diminished interest levels, dropping pricing. Poultry by-product pet grade into Southeast Asia was mostly steady to firmer at US$1020-1040/mt.

Trading out of Australia was steady on feathermeal and bloodmeal. Meat and bonemeal (50 pro) were firmer on accounts of active demand with a new high end of AU$900/mt. MLA estimated national Australian slaughter last week at 132,421 head, 38.4 percent, or 36,748 head, above last year for the respective time. Year-to-date AU slaughter was at 4.741 million head, 26.7 percent, or 1.006 million head, above 2022 for the respective time.

New Zealand values were flat on bloodmeal and meat and bonemeal for the week.
