Hide trading at end of week was active for bull and steer hides. The selections traded were reported at steady to current market price levels. Buyers are still negotiating with sellers on some material which may carry into the weekend.
There is talk of increased hide interest from the automotive leather tanners upon the conclusion of the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike. Negotiations amongst the UAW and the three US automakers has been moving in a positive direction and some have speculated that a deal may be agreed upon in the coming few weeks.
