Slow US Hide Trading Today

Slow US Hide Trading Today

Hide trading was limited Thursday as buyers remain firm with their lower bid prices. The material that was traded was down $0.50 and $1 for regular weight heavy native steers and jumbo Colorado branded steers, respectively.
Automotive tanners in North America continue to have minimal new leather orders and have had to push December shipments back to January due to the ongoing deliberations of the contract for the United Auto Workers (UAW) and the Big 3 automakers in Detroit. However, auto hide tanners in Asia remain active but continue to bid lower than current market levels.
Shoe tanners remain active but also are looking to buy material at lower than current market levels.
Sellers expect to continue their negotiations into tomorrow and possibly into the start of next week.
