Cattle Slaughter Remains below Prior Year into Holiday Season

**Please note, The Jacobsen will close at 1:00CT on Wednesday and will not publish a bulletin on Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.**

Trading for the start of the week was lackluster with the proximity of the long Thanksgiving weekend. A high of $1400/st was reported for porcine bloodmeal in Indiana, on limited volume, keeping the previously published range.

Cattle slaughter is forecast by The Jacobsen at 570,000 head this week, 9.5 percent lower from last week due to the Thanksgiving holiday and down 3.2 percent from the same week last year. Over the next six weeks, slaughter is forecast at an average of 609,170 head per week, 1.3 percent over 2022.
