As communities grapple with a worsening housing crisis, one Northern California town will utilize hemp in the construction of 33 single family homes. Tom Pires, a Central Valley hemp farmer, is pleased to see the initiative to build homes for agricultural laborers in Huron, California.
Farm laborers notoriously suffer from housing insecurity. Despite improvements that, in part, were policy driven, families are still routinely forced to live in substandard or crowded housing as they move from farm to farm following seasonal work.
