GCAU’s Forecasted Higher into 2024

Limited trade was again reported for Thursday. However, higher values were indicated for porcine meat and bonemeal, Indiana. Increased offerings have been reportedly lower following the holiday season and the winter weather affecting production. A high of $410/st was reported for the region. Porcine bloodmeal was also higher in Indiana, though a high of $1600/st could not be confirmed as the bulk of trade for the current session. 

Grain Consuming Animal Units Forecasted Higher into 2024

The most recent January USDA Feed Outlooks indicates the GCAUs (Grain Consuming Animal Units) are anticipated to increase by 0.9 percent, or 871,734 head, from the 2022/23 marketing year into 2023/24. The head count was estimated to be at 100.73 million head for 2023/24, 2.598 million head higher from the base estimate in May of 2023.
