Argentina

February 22

Slaughter returned to normal this week.
Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted heavy steers remained unchanged from the prior week at about US$0.55 per kg.
There was moderate demand for semi-finished and finished leathers, with falling international prices, accompanying the prices of American and Brazilian leather markets.
This week the expectation was focused on the fair that takes place in Milan.

February 15

In January, slaughter totaled 1.16 million head, 7 percent up from December and 3 percent down from the year prior.
This week was a short working week in Argentina as both Monday and Tuesday were the Carnival holiday.
Slaughter volumes didn’t increase this week from last due to the holidays.
