Weekly cattle slaughter forecast higher following Easter holiday

There were no adjustments at the start of the week, with light trade reported.

Values on cash cattle have continued to move upwards, reaching new highs. For live cattle the market was as high as $191 per hundred weigh (cwt) and dressed reached a high of $310/cwt. Reductions in harvest hours have been reported by several in the market due to tight to negative margins for the beef packers. However, increased interest led to higher asks and a wide range of trade for last week.
