Daily market
The US hide market closed the week to Friday May 24 with an underwhelming amount of cured hide trading but firm wet blue trading, both at lower levels than last traded. Most negotiations over the week never materialized, many sellers reported, but they expected some business to be carried into the weekend.

A trader reported regular weight heavy native steers at $29 per piece, down by $2 per piece from the day prior, and butt branded at $26 per piece, down by $1 per piece from the previous day’s sales. The price decreases were driven by lacking demand from automotive tanners.
