A few hide sellers received a large volume of bids for a variety of hide selections on Wednesday August 14, the second consecutive week that interest was firm. But the threat of a possible rail strike at Canada National Railway Company and Canadian Pacific Kansas City was a possible disruption for a few market participants.
A big packer sold regular weight butt branded steers at $25.50 per piece today, which recovered the price from the decrease from the day prior to $24 per piece. The light and regular weight heavy native steer hides sold at sideways levels, despite reports of possible price easing driven by weak automotive hide demand.
