Regular-weight heavy native steer (HNS) hides traded $0.50 per piece above the latest reported trade at $28.50 per piece. A few other sellers mentioned rumors of HNS hides traded at $27 per piece, driven by the slow automotive leather demand.
A seller reported that cow hides were in demand at flat to last-traded prices. The seller added that it received bids for branded cow hides at prices higher than the last-traded level, but had no hides available.
Many market participants were optimistic about the All-China Leather Fair in early September, hoping that the show will bring improvements to hide prices and demand.
