Low hide trading numbers in anticipation of ACLE

Several market participants reported that a minimal number of hide sales occurred during the week ended Friday August 23, although many anticipate more trading during the All-China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) in early September.

The buying interest during the week was due to attractively low hide prices and the the fact that the hides available were the better-quality material of the summertime.

Native cow, dairy cow, branded cow, kip skin and small packer hides traded sideways to last reported prices, whereas native and branded bulls traded lower by $0.50 per piece from the previously reported levels. A bull seller said they had hides available, but demand was low. Sale prices were the best bids received.
