WASDE increases forecast for US corn production, cuts soybean, wheat output figure

The USDA’s October release of the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report on Friday October 11 has provided fresh estimates for corn, soybeans and wheat.

US corn forecasts for 2024/25 suggest smaller supplies, increased exports and lower ending stocks.

Wheat estimates for 2024/25 in the US indicated lower supplies, increased domestic use, steady exports and reduced ending stocks.

And US soybean projections for 2024/25 showed slight reductions in estimates for both yields and production.

Corn
US corn production is projected at 15.2 billion bushels, up by 17 million bu from the previous month, driven by a modest rise in per-acre yield, now estimated at 183.8 bu per acre.

The harvested area is forecast at 82.7 million acres, unchanged from the previous month but down 4% from the previous year.
