Brazilian wet blue TR1 hide prices soften amid weak supply, demand

Brazil
Brazilian hide demand was weak during the week to Thursday October 17, with Italian and Chinese tanners relatively uninterested in new hide purchases, according to market participants.

Slaughter volumes fell dramatically over the past 10-15 days due to activity among farmers and slaughterhouses at the live cattle market.

The price of Brazilian wet blue TR1 hides decreased to $0.58-0.60 per square foot during the week to Thursday, a seller told Fastmarkets.

Uruguay
Uruguay’s National Customs Directorate reported the country’s fresh beef export at 25,625 tonnes in September, down by 16.9% month on month and by 13.7% year on year.

A source indicated that cattle hide availability during September grew tighter as a result of the drop in production.
