Trade values below the current ranges were indicated on meat and bonemeal, although reported trades were still rangebound on the day.
Fastmarkets assessed the price of poultry by-product meal, pet food grade, Mid-South at $575-600 per short ton, narrowing downward from Monday’s range of $590-625 per ton. Market sources suggested that lower soybean meal and holiday inventory shuffles have put pressure on market values.
October US broiler, turkey slaughter
Broiler slaughter in the US in October totaled 861.55 million head, according to the USDA’s Poultry Slaughter report released on November 25. This was up by 4.48% year on year and by 11.88% from September.
Broiler slaughter totaled 7.95 billion head in the year to October, up by 0.76% year on year and by 1.76% from the corresponding three-year average.
US broiler weights averaged 6.70 lb in October, up by less than 0.5% year on year.
