US winter wheat conditions continue to improve, rising above weekly, yearly levels

The USDA published the 35th crop progress report for the 2024 growing season on Monday November 25, covering data for the week to Sunday.

Winter wheat
Winter wheat planting was reported at 97%, up by 5 percentage points from the previous week, in line with last year’s levels, but down by 1 percentage point from the five-year average.

Winter wheat that had emerged was reported at 89%, up by 5 percentage points week on week, but down by 1 percentage point year on year, and in line with the five-year average.

Winter wheat conditions were 55% good to excellent, up by 6 percentage points from the previous week’s figure and above the 50% good-to-excellent rating last year.

The 2024 crop rated in poor-to-very-poor condition fell by 3 percentage points from the previous week’s figure at 12% and down from 15% a year earlier.
