US weekly export hide sales down 2%; YTD shipments up 17%

The US hide market was quiet on Thursday February 6, with sources reporting limited activity and prices holding steady day on day.

US export hide sales decreased by 2% to 470,228 pieces in the week to January 30 from 480,165 pieces the week prior, while shipments increased by 1% to 557,575 pieces from 552,838 pieces.

Total export sales for the 2025 marketing year were 2,464,065 pieces in the week to January 30, almost all cured hides.

Total shipments for the 2025 marketing year were 2,160,120 pieces in the week to January 30, up by 17% from the previous year.

The average year-to-date weekly trend for federally inspected slaughter was 533,712 pieces. Export sales averaged 492,813 pieces, and export shipments averaged 432,024 pieces.
