Uncharacteristically cooler temperatures moved into a large swatch of the Central/Northern US, joining the already chilled hide market. Worries of new tariffs for hides arriving in China after the end of December, as well as China leather goods sold in the US, dominated the market conversation. While there was still interest for American steer hides, many of the bids from China were discounted to compensate for potential tariffs.
