The hide market is still relatively quiet with early offers and the expectation for steady asking prices and a normal-size list. Without any indication leather business is improving, tanners are largely unwilling to do more than steady and are happy to wait out hide suppliers who are asking higher. Several suppliers note that much of the recent sales are for smaller orders with better interest for top-end selections.
