The US hide market last week was subdued as it reflected the absence of its largest market, China. Prices were relatively flat with suppliers shrugging off the lower bids and a modest amount of steady business. The Jacobsen Hide Index Friday closed at $66.27, up $.58 from $65.68 the week before and big packer HNS sold for $75.50, BBS from $72 to $74, HTS from $71 to $72 and CBS for $65.
