US cow hides were firm with prices a dollar higher on a number of selections last week. Steers were a little soft with some trades a dollar lower although some steady business on better grades was also done. The Jacobsen Hide Index on Friday closed at $64.82 from $64.48 the week before.

Demand in general was unchanged with furniture and auto leather business still good, while shoe business was still sluggish as tanners await any signs…
