The hide market last week was more quiet than the week prior with prices from stable to slightly lower for lower grading selections and with cow hides and better grading steers very steady. There was a bit of a standoff with price increase on a few offers but most business was settled at steady prices on offsetting lower bids. The Jacobsen Hide Index closed Friday at $64.48, down $0.40 from $64.87 a week ago.
