The US hide market was more of the same last week with producers keeping a firm lid on the steer prices and cow suppliers fighting for orders and trying to keep prices from sliding further. Steer hides traded from steady to $0.50 higher with packer HNS selling for $72 to $73, BBS for $71 to $72 and HTS from $65 to $68 FOB plant. The Jacobsen Hide Index closed Friday at $63.40 from $62.64 a week ago.
