Broiler Slaughter Below 2022; PBM PFG Supported in Near Term
Values on animal proteins were rangebound for the day. A quiet tone was reported with light volume.
For the week ending August 19th, 2023, broiler slaughter is forecast at 171.090 million head, less than half a percent above 2022 but 1.5 percent higher from the previous week (Fig 1). Over the next six weeks, broiler slaughter is projected to average 167.483 million head per week, down 1.4 percent from 2022 but up 2.4 percent compared to 2021.
