It was very quiet in the US hide market today with many of the markets closed for the May Day holiday. Prices retracted for most selections one to two dollars lower and volume was down. The Jacobsen Hide Index closed Thursday at $82.87 from $85.41 a week ago. This time last year the index was $102.82, dropping 19.4% or $19.95.
