Biodiesel margins rise, but window of opportunity limited
Biodiesel margins continued to rise during the week to Friday November 22. The bean oil/heating oil (BOHO) spread boosted margins by falling to its lowest level since August 27.
Ethanol production increased 52,000 barrels per day to an 893 million-barrel-per-day average during the week ending June 19, 2020, reaching the highest weekly production level since output the pandemic onset, according to the EIA’s Weekly Petroleum Status Report. Output increased 6.2 percent but remains 17 percent below production levels at this time last year. DDGS output climbed 4,946 metric tons daily during the past week but is 17,024 MT below daily production from a year ago.
Gasoline supply was Jumped 9.4 percent, reaching its highest level since the pandemic began in late March. Gasoline supply is 9.1 percent below 2019 levels for the same weekly period. Ethanol stocks hi a 25-week low at 21 million barrels. Ethanol imports were absent again during the week. The increase in ethanol production raised corn demand by 770 thousand bushels per day.
