Federal Cannabis Policy

Cannabis policy at federal level is not advancing currently, amidst a full slate of other issues.  Senators, in particular, lack the bandwidth currently to address cannabis in standalone legislation, but budgets are shaping up to provide protections for medical marijuana programs and for financial institutions that bank cannabis operators.   Cannabis policy shifts can have significant impacts on the hemp side, though hemp prices are not expected to change dramatically in the wake of federal legalization.  Free markets willincrease demand for hemp flower and various cannabinoid products. 

The House Appropriations Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) Subcommittee approved a bill that funds different government agencies for FY 2022.  Per
