June slaughter was reported at 1.07 million head, which was 9 percent more than May. The higher figure was due to the long marketing stoppage, but the month’s slaughter was still 12 percent less year-on-year comparison. If adjusted for business days, slaughter was 1 percent lower than May and 16 percent lower year-on-year. 

Slaughter improved a little this week but was still lower than last year.

Both green fresh and wet salted hides are quoting unchanged from last week. Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted steer prices remains at about US$0.85~0.90 per kg.
