The Jacobsen will implement new Friday publication hours next Friday, September 22. The deadline for trade reporting will be at 1 p.m. CST with publication of the Hide & Leather Price Guide/Commentary soon after.

The US hide market ended the week on a quiet tone following the United Auto Workers (UAW) decision to go on strike at plants of three major US automakers. The strike is due to the failure of negotiations between union members and automakers on terms of pay and benefits. Hide tanners in the automotive industry have requested for delays on shipments and are now inactive in making new purchases.
