Strong August Furniture Sales Despite Bearish Chinese & US Housing Markets

Midweek hide trading was active for steer and cow hides.
Automotive tanners showed demand for Heavy Native Steers (HNS) with some willing to pay at higher levels than others. One buyer purchased light-weight HNS at $36 while another purchased regular weight material at the same price as the lightweight trade.
Regular weight Butt Branded Steers (BBS), regular weight Colorado Branded Steers and lightweight Colorado Branded Steers (CBS) traded lower than yesterday’s levels. Trades for BBS were down $1 from last traded levels on packer material and CBS were $0.50 down on light and regular weight packer material.
Sellers reported continued price pressure from buyers for current market levels on Colorado branded steers.
Dairy and branded cows all were traded today at steady to current market levels. Sellers reported firm interest from furniture upholstery tanners in China.
