Industry Stakeholders Hopeful for Move to Schedule III

Speculation swirls around the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recommendations to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on cannabis rescheduling.    HHS is believed to have advised DEA to move cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III.

The Jacobsen – Fastmarkets previously reported on President Biden’s directive to HHS to evaluate current cannabis scheduling and make recommendations.  The move to Schedule III would have a dramatic impact on cannabis markets.  For example, cannabis businesses would be able to take standard tax deductions that they currently cannot use.
