Sellers Expected to Drop Offer Prices Due to Limited Demand

Sellers reported limited interest to buy at the start of the week after slow sales last week. According to a few packers and traders in the U.S. market, sellers are expected to lower offer prices on fed steer hides by approximately $1 because of prolonged, weak demand. A source did suggest that lower offers may spark buying interest in the market ahead of tannery shutdowns for the holiday season.

The material that continues to hold interest is cow hides and dairy steers intended for furniture upholstery, accessories and handbags. Several sellers reported well sold positions on these hides, and prices remain fairly steady week to week.
