In February, slaughter totaled 1.04 million head, which was ten percent down from January and one percent down year-on-year.
If adjusted for business days, the comparisons would be four percent above January’s slaughter and six percent below year-on-year.
Good quality Buenos Aires wet salted heavy steers prices were unchanged from the prior week, at about US$0.65/kg.
The market was stable, while the leather fair in Hong Kong (APLF) was neither optimistic, nor pessimistic, about the future.
Semi and finished leather prices are unchanged, at generally low and uncompetitive values.
There was stable demand for footwear and leather goods, but less demand for furniture and automobile upholstery.
