Retail shoe sales had been consistently above 2019 numbers through February, but it’s reasonable to expect that trend to snap sharply lower when the FRED releases sales data later this week. March, August and December have been the peak seasonal sales periods for shoes. August likely represents the back-to-school season and December represents a peak due to holiday sales.
