Organic Pea Prices Remain Stable Despite Rising Pea Isolate Demand

 

Organic pea prices have remained stable in the US hovering near $8.5 per bushel in the North Dakota region. This comes despite stronger demand for pea isolate. Organic pea imports increased year over year for the first 4-months of the year. The demand for meat alternatives continues to rise but has yet to put upward pressure on organic pea prices.

Alternative Meat Demand

One way to evaluate meat alternative demand is through the revenues produced by Beyond Meat. Revenues in the Q1 increased by 141% year over year, well above expectations. The surge in grocery store retail demand has coincided with record demand for the company’s beef and pork substitutes. Sales at grocery stores hit a record in for Beyond Meat in May and April.
