Hide price movement varied today, but the majority of material traded at higher prices. Buyers in the auto and furniture tanning sector continue to show demand for higher-end steer material, such as Heavy Native Dairy Steer, Butt Branded Steer and Colorado Branded Steer, but are still having trouble finding their desired supply as the less attractive winter hides are the available majority. Lighter weight material continues to be of interest due to nicer grain quality and higher yield. 

Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) reported $2.3 million in US retail shoe sales for September 2020, down 9 percent from August. Historically, FRED reports a negative change from August to September reasonably due to the slowdown after the back-to-school shopping season.
