Organic Soybean Imports are Likely on Their Way in June

 

Some organic soybean imports are on their way, but there are not many beans around to crush, and most won’t be available until the harvest. Merchandisers tell The Jacobsen that farmers are ready to sell new crop beans in the high 20’s in the mid-West once they are sure they will get a yield. As we reported on Monday, the drought monitor shows a severe drought in the upper mid-West and many organic soybeans.

A Ship Could be on the Way Carrying Organic Soybeans

The Jacobsen believes a ship is scheduled to arrive in Morehead City, North Carolina, on June 25, carrying organic soybeans. The cargo on board the vessel, the Amelie, is soybeans (not listed by the shipping authority as organic), coming from Argentina. The seller in Argentina is a specialty grain merchandiser, according to sources. As a point of reference, in June of 2020, approximately 18.6K metric tons of organic soybeans…
