has been a vocal supporter of the hemp industry.  NASDA has routinely lobbied for intelligent, market-building hemp policy.  For hemp to achieve normalization and access to federal or state programs commensurate with other agricultural crops, there are scores of unexciting policy changes needed at all levels of government. 

NASDA recently hosted their annual meeting in Louisville where they voted as a body to advocate for a dual designation for hemp.  This allows growers to claim their crop as an agricultural commodity, such as hempseed and fiber production, or a specialty crop, like cannabinoid production. 

The two categories accurately characterize the reality of hemp production, where cannabinoids are essentially a separate industry.  Providing access to specialty crop grants for cannabinoid producers would be beneficial, as that…
