CARB Posts Q2 Credit Surplus

 

CA LCFS Credit Bank Grows During Second Quarter

Banked LCFS credits increased during the second quarter of 2021, according to data released by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Friday afternoon. Total banked credits climbed 167,359 to 7.86 million.  The second quarter increase follows a first quarter decline of 225,395 credits and is the third quarterly rise for the credit bank in the past six quarters.

Total liquid fuel use increased 13.5 percent to 4.5 billion gallons in Q2.  The largest increases in volume were seen in gasoline, ethanol, and renewable diesel.  California continued to shrug off the pandemic as gasoline consumption climbed 316 million gallons.  This led to a 111-million-gallon increase in ethanol use, while renewable diesel volume increased 23.6 million gallons.
